Dry Buttermilk - Central and East USDA - Tue Nov 24, 8:47PM UTC MD_DA350
Buttermilk - Eastern and Central U.S.
Report 48 - Released on November 24, 2020
CENTRAL: Central dry buttermilk prices remained unchanged during the holiday week.
Interestingly, contacts suggest buttermilk demand has remained stronger than expected, and
availability has become limited. A number of producers suggest spot supplies range from
balanced to nonexistent. This represents a change, in some cases, as a few producers have
reported some looseness in loads dried earlier in the year until recent weeks. That being
said, churning has been busy, and cream is growing in availability for butter makers,
therefore more condensed buttermilk will be available for processing near term. Buttermilk
powder market tones, currently, are healthy.
EAST: Dry buttermilk prices are steady this week. Some market participants report spot
offers are limited. Drying time is mostly unchanged although some operations are scheduling
production for their customers immediate needs. Buyers demands are mixed. Some are holding
off on purchasing to see where prices lead. The market tone is unchanged.
Prices for: Eastern and Central U.S., All First Sales, F.O.B., Conventional, and Edible
Buttermilk
